St. Louis Mother Asks Son for Forgiveness in Memoir

Lea Rachel is a Saint Louis mother, a white woman who adopted a Black baby years ago. She details her struggles to understand and prepare her child in a world unrelenting & stained with racism and her attempt to surmount the obstacles race poses within their relationship in a book titled, 'Seeking Forgiveness', now online and in stores.
According to Dale Singer with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the book mainly features her son's predicament when the story takes place, arrested for a fight at a party and in desperate need of an attorney. This is the main focus, but it break-aways to the past with flashbacks that detail the twists & turns that led them to their present, like her husband leaving her for a younger woman, the unacceptance of people of their relationship, & even the lonesome childhood her son faced usually being the only Black kid in his schools and communities.
Overall, the story seems to be interesting and much needed in a time of heightened racial awareness & reckoning.
